The Coptic Community in Canada is closely following the tragic attack on a bus carrying innocent people to the monastery of St. Samuel the Confessor, Minya, Egypt which resulted in killing over 7 innocent Coptic Christians and leaving many injured. People on a bus heading to the monastery to spend a day of prayers and solitude.

It is sad to see that for the second time in just one year, the Coptic community woke up to the horrifying images of the victims and the heart-breaking news of the most recent attack on Coptic Christians this Friday, November 2, 2018. Innocent children, infants, women and men were assassinated as their bus was on its way to visit the holy Monastery of St. Samuel the Confessor in Minya Governate.

We offer our sincere condolences to our father the Patriarch, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and the Coptic Christian community worldwide. We pray that our Lord repose the souls of the martyrs, grant comfort to their families and loved ones, and extend His healing hands with speedy recovery to the injured. We also pray that our Lord grant peace to our beloved country Egypt and wisdom to government officials to handle these repeated situations firmly. We trust in our Lord’s unwavering support to all.
