In the deadliest attack on civilians in Egypt’s modern history, Islamist militants attacked innocent persons who were exercising their right to freely worship, killing over 300 hundred people and leaving 100 injured by attacking a crowded mosque on Friday. The scale and ruthlessness of this assault, which occurred in a small town in Northern Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, sent shockwaves throughout the country as it is the first attack of its kind by ISIS on a mosque in Egypt. In the past ISIS has repeatedly targeted Coptic Christian Churches, businesses and lives.
The Coptic Orthodox Community in Canada condemns these actions in the strongest form and stands in unity with its Muslim brothers, friends and neighbors as these attacks are attacks on all humankind. We call on the Canadian Government to support the Government of Egypt in its efforts to eradicate the ideology that drives people to kill the innocent and spread terror. Dealing with Islamic terrorism is the challenge of this generation and we know that through God’s grace and collaboration of all people of faith, working hand in hand, good will prevail.
We pray for the souls of the deceased and for a speedy recovery for the injured. We extend our profound condolences to the families of the deceased. We also pray for God to grant discernment and wisdom to the leadership in Egypt in its efforts to protect its citizens and to continue in its pursuit of rejuvenating Egypt as a shining beacon for peace and tolerance in the world.
May God protect His people in Egypt and grant peace to His world.

اننا وبقلب يملاه الحزن والاسى نتقدم لسيادتكم بالتعازي في شهداء الوطن الذين فقدوا ارواحهم وهم يأدوون الصلاة رغبة منهم في التعفف والقرب الي الله سبحانه وتعالي
هؤلاء قتلوا غدرا و عدوانا بدون اي ذنب اقترفوه ومنهم أطفالا و شيوخ.
ان وطننا الغالي يحظي دائما بارتوائي رماله بدماء الشهداء وان كانت هذة الدماء غالية و لكنها ثمن تدفعه أمة فداءا للحرية و الاستقلال
لقد عاني الأقباط من مثل هذة الاعتداءات من قبل وقدم الاقباط الغالي و الرخيص من اجل علية مصر.
وان الجالية القبطية بكندا من صغيرها الي كبيرها تشجب هذا الفعل الأثيم وتجدد عهدها لوطنها الام في ان ترفع رايات المواطنة في ارض المهجر حافظة اسم مصر عاليا وفوق كل الشبهات
انني بالأصالة عن نفسي و بالنيابة عن كل الكهنة والشعب القبطي بكندا اتقدم بالعزاء لاسر الشهداء ونصلي جميعا من اجل سرعة شفاء المصابين والقبض علي الجناة ومعاقبتهم باقصى العقوبات التي يسمح بها القانون حتي يكونوا عبرة لمن تسول لة نفسة بالتفكير في اي عمل مماثل.
اننا نصلي من اجل مصر ونصلي من اجل قيادتكم الحكيمة وندعوا الي الله ان يحفظ وطننا وأولادنا من كل اثم وشر.
